Peace Through Dance and Music
(on the powerful role of voice-work and dance in reconciliation)
Now is the time for dissolving prejudices and healing conflicts.
History shows us that talking alone may be fruitless. People are debating without a foundation of trust.
But sound and movement hold time-tested magic for "harmonising" differences, and building bridges.
Songs and dances exist in human societies all over the world as a means of sharing emotions and transmuting them. For over 20 years, Stefan and Bethan Freedman have been researching and creating dances and songs that can support peace processes.
These are participatory dances and songs that are quickly learned and which everyone can achieve.
But how can people in conflict, feeling fear and resentment, reach the point of dancing together?
