When words flounder as a platform for peace and seem instead like an impenetrable wall, it's time to link hands and dance.
Dance - as presented by Bethan and Stefan Freedman - is a powerful means of connection: with one another, and with our sense of wellbeing.
To connect with one another in a non-verbal way, moving as equals in a circle is a powerful commitment to our shared humanity. Like breaking bread together we can choose, here and now, to make everything that unites us more important than any issue which divides us.
To connect with our wellbeing is to remember what makes all human endeavour worthwhile. In a world full of conflict it is essential to find a time to release stored up tensions and be present to joy. It is not a coincidence that relaxed movement to rhythmical music plays a central part in every human culture.
Stefan and Bethan travel the world introducing people to community dances from many traditions. Dances that everyone can do; people of all nationalities, beliefs, ages, shapes and sizes are included. The dances offer us the chance to affirm and celebrate the rich diversity of world cultures. At the same time we gain an immediate physical experience of ourselves as an interdependent community, moving forward together to a shared rhythm.

Stefan and Bethan have led dance in Russia, Slovenia, Spain, France, Greece, Belgium, Eire, Canada the USA and around Britain. They most enjoy dancing with groups and conferences working towards global understanding, peace and justice.
